Institute for Cultural Practices and methods@manchester at the University of Manchester present…

Culture Effects, ESRC Impact Agenda Seminar 2 : A one-day seminar exploring the impact of arts and culture, Tuesday 28th June, 10 – 5pm, Martin Harris Centre, The University of Manchester.

Taking the concepts of ‘beauty’ and ‘impact’ as starting points, Culture Effects provides an opportunity for artists, cultural practitioners and academics to come together to explore new languages for articulating the difficult to measure, intangible, sensual and powerful ‘effects’ and ‘affects’ of arts and culture. The event is relevant to arts and cultural practitioners, academics from across the humanities and social sciences, policy-makers, educationalists and others interested in extending the ways in which they research the impact of interventions. · Keynotes from Joe Winston, University of Warwick, on Beauty and Education & Tom Bolton, Centre for Cities, on Beauty and the Built Environment · Case studies on measuring the affects and effects of cultural practices · Presentations from academic and cultural practitioners, provocations, and creative workshops.
