This autumn Melvyn Bragg will present the ‘Reel History of Britain’ through film treasures held in the UK’s rich and varied film archives. Scheduled for transmission on BBC2 in September, this 20 part series will include gems from the North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University, illustrating some of the region’s diverse and fascinating stories which have been captured on film in the twentieth century. Find out more about the series, and archive film in the north west, at a BBC Hands on History event in Albert Square, Manchester from 10am-5pm on Saturday 28th May. We will be there all day, showing films and providing some ‘hands on’ film opportunities.
